Overview

 

For a small village, San Pancho has an astonishing number of excellent places to eat, with dozens of restaurants offering delicious food, ranging from high cuisine to corner taco stands.  Many of San Pancho's restaurants are located on the main street, Avenida del Tercer Mundo, but don’t be afraid to explore the side streets, pleasant surprises can be found all over town.  

 


María’s Deli-Café

It is not by accident that Maria’s is one of the most popular restaurants in town.  The owner, Maria Ines has a simple approach, great service and great food! She treats every customer as a family member.  A must for breakfast, lunch or dinner, And just in case you have to, they even have wireless!

La Ola Rica  

Proprietors Gloria and Trini have established one of Nayarit’s finest restaurants.   Try the wonderful shrimp dishes, or the mouth watering carne asada you can’t go wrong.  If your up for it, have Gaby make up some margaritas, you will know you have arrived!  Excellent.

Café Del Mar

The founder, Amandine, is French Belgian and it shows in the deliciously creative cuisine.  Music can include contemporary and flamenco dance, reggae and jazz. There are also rotating art shows featuring local artists.  Excellent.

MarPlata

This is the fanciest restaurant in town and features a large rooftop dining area. MarPlata features renowned Argentinean meat dishes, or try the fresh fillet of mahi-mahi.  A full bar is complemented by Spanish, French, Argentinean, Italian, and Mexican wines.  Excellent

San Pancho Café (aka Casa de Chile Relleno)

The signature chile rellenos are just the beginning of the culinary masterpieces available in this beautiful rooftop palapa. Traditional cuisine taken up a notch by a master chef. Excellent desserts and drink menu.

La Taza de Café (The Cup of Coffee)

This is a great breakfast place, with a lovely open and bright decor. They have an espresso machine for your favorite morning eye-opener, or you can order a wide selection of fruit and vegetable juices, fresh-squeezed to order.

La Patrona

San Pancho has a polo field by the soccer field off Tercer Mundo.  Saturday night Polo matches are becoming THE thing to do in San Pancho, they put on a wonderful show after the game with live entertainment and excellent food. http://www.polovallarta.com/home.htm   (seasonal)

 

Bistro Organico at the Cielo Rojo                                                       The restaurant at Cielo Rojo has reopened with a great new chef, Juan Diego. He is creating healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner options each day using local organic produce.

On The Beach

 

If you prefer dining on the beach, there are three fine restaurants at the west end of Tercer Mundo. Pull up a chair, nestle your bare feet in the sand, and catch the sunset over fish tacos and a coldPacifico. The restaurants close around 8:00 PM, so go early and catch the sun sliding into the ocean an essential part of your stay in San Pancho.

Amandine, who owns and operates Mar Plata and Café del Mar has recently renovated and reopened this restaurant featuring Mexican beach-style seafood

Nice place to wash down a cold Corona and watch the sunset.   
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner under a giant palapa with ocean breezes.

La Chalupa

The oldest and most traditional restaurant in town.  A San Pancho history lesson  run by a family of fisherman, ask for the catch of the day.  .

Los Delfines

This is a popular spot in this category. Very friendly people serve a variety of mini tacos with meat, fish, cheese, or veggies. During the winter (high) season, they often have great flan.
